The Bucks County Conservation District annually recognizes outstanding citizens and organizations for their conservation efforts through our Conservation Awards Program. Winners receive recognition from the Conservation District and are presented letters of commendation from the County Commissioners at a Commissioner's meeting each spring as well as recognition of the the Pennsylvania State Legislature at the BCCD annual dinner held in November.
In addition, Conservation Award winning applicants who qualify for submission to state and national award and recognition programs will have their applications forwarded by the BCCD for consideration.
Award nominations are due to the BCCD by February 15, 2009. Applications can be downloaded by clicking on the link to the right, or by contacting the BCCD at 215.345.7577.

Outstanding Individual Conservation Award
An individual who has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the conservation of Bucks County's natural resources. Accomplishments at the local, state and national levels are eligible for entry.
Examples of eligible individuals:
• Conservation volunteers
• Retired conservation professionals
• Active conservation professionals
• Other professionals (engineers, public relations specialists, writers, producers, etc.)
• Leaders of conservation organizations

Conservation Educator Of The Year Award
A Bucks County teacher in public, parochial or private schoolswho has demonstrated a strong commitment to conservation education programs and activities in kindergarten through twelfth grades. Candidates must have been actively teaching during the current school year and been responsible for an outstanding conservation education program during the present and preceding school year.

Conservation Farmer Of The Year Award
A farmer/farm family who has furthered conservation through the establishment and maintenance of soil, water and nutrient management practices. Farmers must have a conservation plan approved by the conservation district.

Conservation Organization Of The Year Award
A Bucks County organization that has made a noteworthy contribution to the conservation of Pennsylvania’s soil, water and related natural resources on a local, county, state, or regional level.
2008 Winner: Cooks Creek Watershed Association

Elected Official Recognition Award
Bucks County elected officials at the local, county, state, or national level that have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of conservation. Elected officials include: County Commissioners, State or National Representatives or Senators, Township Supervisors, or any other elected official.

Resource Conservation Award
Landowners who have exhibited outstanding efforts in he enhancement of a specific natural resource on their property within Bucks County. Examples include Forestry, wildlife,water quantity and quality, wetlands, natural area protection and improvent etc.

George M. Bush Award For Agricultural Preservation
Individuals who have demonstrated outstanding efforts or contributions in the preservation of Bucks County agricultural lands.
|
|
Urban Conservation Award
An individual or organization that has made a unique and outstanding contribution to the conservation of natural resources in an urban area of Bucks County.
Examples of eligible individuals or organizations:
• Professionals in resource conservation (or retired)
• Volunteers
• District directors or associate directors
• Conservation district employees
• Elected officials
• Organizations
• Businesses or Industry

Conservation High School Student
This award is available to Bucks County high school students in public, parochial, private schools and home schools who have demonstrated a strong commitment to conservation education program and activities during ninth through twelfth grades.
