Bucks County Conservation District is a partner of The Keystone 10 Million Trees Partnership, a collaborative effort of national, regional, state and local agencies, conservation organizations, outdoors enthusiasts, businesses, and citizens committed to improving Pennsylvania’s communities, economy, and ecology by planting 10 million trees throughout the Commonwealth by 2025.

Trees are critical to life. Prioritizing the restoration and preservation of trees alongside streams and streets will have a profound impact on Pennsylvania. The ambitious collaborative partnershp aims to plant 10 million trees for the benefit of all Pennsylvanians. Since 2005, TreeVitalize Watersheds has focused on planting trees along stream corridors, adjacent upland areas and “naturalized” stormwater basins in the five-county region of southeastern Pennsylvania (SEPA). Through this public-private partnership, dozens of watershed restoration projects are completed throughout the SEPA region every year, resulting in thousands of trees planted in sensitive water protection zones.

The TreeVitalize Watersheds grant program is managed regionally by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society with funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) and corporate sponsor Aqua Pennsylvania for projects located within its sourcewater protection zones and service areas. Bucks County Conservation District is a local partner in this program: providing application guidance, serving as a grant advisor for funded projects, and processing project reimbursements for projects located in Bucks County that receive TreeVitalize Watersheds funding.

Funding is available to non-profit organizations and municipalities who are seeking funding for an eligible project. Applicants must be certified Tree Tenders or have equivalent training or be prepared to complete a Tree Tenders training (approximately 9 hours total over 3 evenings on tree biology, proper planting and care of trees) prior to their planting event.
